Suzuki Canada To Support Able Sail Toronto & Mobility Cup Events Through 2026!

June 6, 2024, Barrie, ON— Suzuki Canada is proud to announce its sponsorship of Able Sail Toronto and Mobility Cup events for the next 3 sailing seasons. Able Sail is a registered charity that is managed by – and for – people who live with disabilities, offering access to the sport of sailing using specially adapted sailboats.

THE SUZUKI SPONSORSHIP INCLUDES SAFETY/COACH BOAT AND TRAILER PACKAGE

Through the sponsorship, Suzuki Canada will provide essential equipment that will allow the program to run safely and efficiently throughout the summer season. This equipment includes a Great Lakes 460 Inflatable Boat by Melocraft, completely rigged with Suzuki accessories and a Suzuki DF40ATL Ultimate Outboard ready for the water.

DETAILS:

  • The boat and outboard package will be used in programs and events that are run by Able Sail in Toronto during the summer season 2024, 2025 and 2026.
  • This boat and outboard package will also be used to run Able Sail’s annual Mobility Cup events held in Nova Scotia in 2024 and Quebec in 2025.

ABLE SAIL TORONTO’S SEASON OPENER CELEBRATED

On Sunday, June 2, 2024, Able Sail Toronto celebrated the 2024 Season Opener at the National Yacht Club in Toronto. This event highlights how sailing is made accessible for all. As Sponsors of Able Sail Toronto, representatives of Suzuki Canada, including company President Bill Porter were present to share in the excitement.

Through its program and specially adapted sailboats, sailing enthusiasts living with disabilities can have an opportunity to enjoy sailing. Able Sail Toronto exists to enable access to sport and healthy activities, particularly for people living on a fixed income, as many of the members do.

Able Sail Toronto was recently awarded the House of Commons Canada Community Leadership Award. This award recognizes dedication, unwavering commitment to the community and exemplary leadership.

Sailing is a versatile sport that easily adapts to the needs of people with physical disabilities, and it levels the playing field. Able Sail Toronto strives to give their members a sense of independence, pride, and self-sufficiency. Able Sail Toronto operates out of the National Yacht Club in Downtown Toronto.

SUZUKI COMMITS TO SAILING ACCESSIBILITY AND CLEAN MARINE ENVIRONMENTS

Suzuki’s support of Able Sail Toronto dovetails nicely with its’ commitment to ensuring a pristine marine environment for us all to enjoy. Suzuki Canada is proud to contribute to the Clean Ocean Project (an initiative led by Suzuki Motor Company and its’ subsidiaries globally) by participating in beach clean-ups and supporting Canadians who champion the cause of keeping our waters clean.

The Clean Ocean Project Commitment:

  1. Collect waste materials to keep our beaches and waterfront areas clean
  2. Reduce plastic packaging from our products
  3. Collect marine micro-plastic waste using our MPC device exclusively designed for Suzuki Outboard Motors
